May Update

Hello, May! If you're in the southeast, it may as well be summer time! It's 90 degrees out near Knoxville TN today. I've gotta be honest: I'm a cold weather kinda guy. You can always put more clothes ON, but you can only take so many OFF. But, I digress ...

I hope the first four months of 2012 treated you well and that you're finding yourself enjoying life. On Saturday April 21st, I was fortunate enough to find myself performing at the historic Bijou Theater in Knoxville TN, opening for Dave Barnes. Thanks to YOU, I won a competition hosted by TopBlip.com, and was given an opening slot for Dave's show in his hometown of Knoxville. It was a sold out show, and the crowd response was nothing short of amazing. And hanging out/chatting with Barnes that night was a nice touch, too. I can't thank you all enough for helping make this possible.

You've probably noticed the calendar looks a bit bare right now on the SHOWS page. I have a few acoustic gigs lined up in east TN, but other than that, I'll be focusing on finishing the new album over the next 2-3 months. We've completed 6 songs thus far at The Record Shop Studio in Nashville. I'm looking to take Make Your Move in, along with 2 brand new songs this month. I can't tell you how anxious I am to get this record to you. It is by far the BEST representation of myself as an artist to date. Plus...this album sounds AMAZING. Be on the lookout for information regarding a Kickstarter.com project to help complete funding.

Remember: you can donate $25 or more via PayPal (travis@travissingleton.com) and this will get your name in the album's liner notes. I want to put 250 names in there, so let's make that happen!

In case you enjoy reading ramblings and whatnot, I started a Tumblr page. It won't be updated frequently. It won't look fancy. And the subject matter will range from...well, it'll be all over the place. But, you can check it out here:
travissingleton.tumblr.com/

I'm calling a Heat vs. Thunder matchup in the NBA Finals, for the sports fans reading this. And if you're not amped about the Steve Lillywhite-produced Dave Matthews Band album that's dropping later this year, SHAME ON YOU!

Until we meet again, my friends ....

Here's to OUR 2012

Hello my friends!

I hope you have enjoyed your holiday season as much as I have. And I hope that you were able to spend the last moments of 2011 with the friends, family, and loved ones that mean the most to you. What an incredible year it was, and what a stage has been set for an even more amazing 2012.

October of last year marked the 7 year mark for me as a performing singer/songwriter, while this April will see the 3 year anniversary of my move to pursuing this career on a full time basis. 2011 was certainly a milestone year for me. Overwhelming doesn’t begin to describe it.

In June, my song ‘Breathe’ allowed the opportunity to perform in London, England at The Peoples Music Awards 2011 ceremony. Out of 2000 entries in the Pop category, I was the runner up. Not only that, but of the 9 categories and 18 finalists, I was the ONLY American act among them. This experience opened so many new doors and has generated a buzz that is carrying over to the new year.

Radio stations in Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, and Tennessee, Canada and The United Kingdom, as well as numerous college radio stations and several internet radio stations put ‘Breathe’ in their regular rotation. ‘Breathe’ also made the top 105 of 2011 countdown on WFIV 105.3 in Knoxville TN.

The Record Shop Studio in Nashville TN and I developed a relationship and work began in December on what will become my new 2012 album release. This project will be the best release to date, and there are going to be several incentive based fund raisers coming your way in the coming weeks. I want to make sure that each of you can be a part of this process. This will be something truly special.

You could say that is my goal for 2012: to have YOU be as involved as possible with everything that comes my way this year. A new, more interactive website will be here soon. More options for us to exchange thoughts and ideas via social networking will be put in place. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you and your undying support. Your belief in my goals and dreams have kept me going for 7 years. And the fun is just beginning.

I’ll be kicking off the new year this coming week with shows starting Wednesday January 4th in Knoxville TN. From there, I’ll be in Chattanooga and Gatlinburg TN, and then Asheville NC. February will see a return to Nashville TN and also will see work on the new album resume.

Again, I can’t thank you enough. Thank you for your encouragement. Always know that you can reach out to me any time you want via Facebook, Twitter, and by email at travis@travissingleton.com . Your feedback and interaction mean the world to me.

Here’s to 2012 … OUR year !

Thank you ...

October 2004 - my best friend calls me up and says "Hey man, you should come down to the coffee shop tonight and play some of your songs. The band we had booked can't make it. So, yea...I told 'em you'd do the slot. See ya then!"

And there I was, singing those 5 or 6 original songs I had written and every cover song that I felt half way comfortable playing in front of people. A nervous wreck. "What am I doing?!"

Fast forward seven years - here I am, 30 months in to pursuing a career as a performing songwriter on a full time basis, and heading into a legitimate Nashville recording studio to begin work on my 3rd official album release. I'm coming off a summer that saw me perform in London England as a finalist in The Peoples Music Awards 2011 'Pop' category. (My song 'Breathe' was the runner-up, by the way. Out of 2000. No 'sham', right?)

I've performed in Dallas, TX. Tampa, FL. Atlanta, GA. Louisville, KY. My home away from home, Nashville, TN. I've traveled miles upon miles, city to city, doing what I LOVE and pursuing my true passion. I've met AMAZING artists from all over this nation and made life long friends in the process.

I've heard my own songs playing on the radio. Do you know how surreal that is? I can't explain in words. Or dance. Or anything.

Wampler Pedals, North America's fast growing and arguably most popular manufacturer of guitar effects pedals, welcomed me to their Endorsed Artist program. Who offers that opportunity to an artist that isn't signed, who has no management or representation, or booking agent?

Oh, you didn't know that? No, I don't have management. Representation. Booking agents. None of that. I have two eyes, two ears, two hands, one heart, and one drive that you can't begin to measure. And something Marty Singleton put into me from the time I was born called honesty and integrity.

I have seen this career grow steadily for 7 years, from part-time on the weekends to full-time every night I'm not sleeping. And there's no end in sight for me. This isn't near completion. I believe in my drive. I believe in my songs. I believe in the effort I put into all this.

But, more than all that, I believe in YOU ... each one of YOU that have bought in to what I'm working towards. I believe in the support that YOU have shown. I believe in the encouragement that YOU have given. It is truly what motivates me on a daily basis.

Thank you. Every one who takes the time to even read this. Thank you. Things are just getting started. This new album will be the key. And I can't wait to take you along with me on this part of the ride.

The Girl Across The Room

We are excited to announce Travis' involvement with the independent film by Jeff Joslin, The Girl Across The Room.

The project will feature a battle of the battle scene during the filming of the movie. Two separate scenes will be shot on Oct 18th-19th at the Relix Theater in Knoxville, TN (Jeff's hometown).

Synopsis:
The Girl Across The Room tells the story of young man chasing his dream to be a top musician after giving up a promising career in sports. He and his girlfriend, also a top musician, enter a battle of the bands contest for a chance to further both their careers. The girl chooses a shortcut and cheats but ends up winning the contest and breaking the heart and the hopes of her boyfriend. He’s so devastated by the defeat he leaves the music industry and pursues a normal paying job to pay off some accumulating debt. On his journey he meets an amazing girl who encourages him to not give up on his dream of music but give it away. Wampler Pedals Gives Endorsement

We are pleased to announce that Travis has been added to the Endorsed Artist Program of Wampler Pedals (www.wamplerpedals.com).

Wampler Pedals has a reputation for being one of the most popular, and arguably the BEST, hand built guitar effects pedals manufacturer in the country. With artists on board such as Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, John Fogerty, Brent Mason and countless Nashville studio musicians, it’s easy to see why.

“A company that chooses to endorse someone makes a decision to place their name next to that individual. So, it is a great honor and privilege for me to be added to the Wampler family. I’ve been a huge fan of the products that Brian Wampler and his staff produce, and I’m eager to help spread the word about their company to my loyal friends and fans. I am humbled by their vote of confidence and I’m grateful that they’ve allowed me to be a part of their Artist Program”. – Travis Singleton

Jeff Baker of Wampler Pedals had this say about Travis and his work:

“I think Travis’ accomplishments are quite remarkable given that he’s really done everything himself. We’re happy to welcome him as a Wampler endorsed artist”.

On ‘Breathe’:
“As far as trends go I think it's time for some good stuff to make it back on the radio, and this has melody, lyricism, composition, and a sense of optimism that might resonate with people who have been through the trenches economically and are looking up”.

Charging The Batteries

by Christopher Aaron Sigler

Travis Singleton has announced that he will be taking some time off from touring until this fall. What? Why? This road warrior is putting together a full length EP in response to the buzz from his new single "Breathe."

i105 WFIV, The People's Music Awards (TPMA), and local supporters have a standard of excellence that many local and regional artists take for granted. Travis is prepared to offer more. There is a limited time to request a few solo shows to get a sample of what is next. Visit www.travissingleton.com and request him to play where YOU want to hear his new stuff.

If he accepts your request there is an "artist package" that will be yours. But wait! There is more...

...but you will have to wait.

The standard is excellence, that which is beyond good.

To London ... and Beyond

Thank you

In all honesty, I stared at my computer screen for a lengthy amount of time, pondering upon the right words to use in this quasi 'address'. And I could only return to those two words. They say everything that's been brewing inside me for the last several weeks so simply, yet so accurately. All that is and has been taking place with my involvement with The Peoples Music Awards 2011, I can directly credit to each and every one of you.

It's been close to 7 years since my first performance of original music, and just over 2 years of pursuing this career on a full time basis. I am nothing short of dumbfounded to be able to see how far things have progressed since that first show in Morristown TN at a little coffeehouse called The Java Garden. To be where I am today is truly humbling. And again, I have you to thank.

It's difficult to take a leap of faith, to pursue a not-so-conventional career path, and pursue it earnestly, and with true desire. It takes heart. It takes a backbone the size of my father's. It takes the genuine support and belief of others to see that you maintain hope that your dreams can be realized. I am fortunate to have such support and belief.

Facebook friends/fans. Twitter followers. MySpace friends (yea, you're still out there. You're not forgotten, oh original social networking site). People that I may never meet face to face. You've bought in to what I'm striving to accomplish. In some form or fashion, my music has connected with you, and you've taken the time to keep up with where my music is heading next. You've helped to spread the word, often times to places that I never thought possible.

Beyond that, you send emails. You leave comments. You leave replies. You tell your friends to check out my music. You give your encouraging words that, I promise you, do not go unnoticed. You create motivation inside me. You help me on the days where I feel like "maybe I should give up". You bring me peace of mind. You give this career choice purpose. And for that, I can't thank you enough.

This Saturday night, I will take the stage in London England, at the historic venue Scala, to perform at The Peoples Music Awards 2011 awards ceremony, with 14 other finalists from the various categories. I will be the only American artist/band/act performing. Out of 2000 original entries, my song 'Breathe' advanced to the final 2 of the Pop category, and now I will be able to showcase a handful of my songs in front of music industry representatives, various press journalists, members of BBC radio, a host of new fans from the London area, as well as a group of my international peers. Oh, and I'll learn whether or not I get bring home a shiny piece of hardware, too ; ) If you would have told me 7 years ago that this would be happening, I would have laughed. Loud. And hard. It is all so surreal. It may not sink in until I step off the plane in London this week.

So, what will happen next, once I return home? I can't say, exactly, but I can tell you that this is only the beginning. This is just the first step in the next chapter of my career. And I have to tell you, it's hard not to believe that it's one huge step. There are a few things in the works right now, a few 'behind the scenes' type things. There are some new and exciting opportunities presenting themselves. The online fan base is growing incredibly well. Several new songs are near studio-ready, which means a new album will happen much sooner than later. It is happening.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you. Thank you to each of you that made a donation in order to allow me to have the funds necessary for this trip. Thank you to each of you that helped in preparing and organizing the various fund raiser events. Thank you to those of you that have stood by me and believed in me.

This is only the beginning ...

News - 5.23.11

Hello one and all!

Hope this Monday finds you well. I had a great time this weekend performing with Jettison Never (Chattanooga TN) and The Half Hearts (Minneapolis MN). Two stellar acts. Definitely take time to check their music out.

We're less than a month away from The Peoples Music Awards ceremony in London England. It's starting to set in a bit! The magnitude of this entire process is humbling, to say the least. If you haven't done so, check some of the latest news article updates to find out exactly what's going on.

"When's the new record coming out!?!?" - A question that I've been getting more and more lately. I can tell you this: there is enough material ready for a new release, so to answer the question ... sooner than later.
